Dr. Joseph L. Jones is a self-proclaimed scholar-activist whose work centers on the liberation of people’s minds, developing and sustaining liberatory spaces and dismantling systems of oppression. As a professor of political science for over fifteen years, Dr. Jones is a master teacher who understands that teaching is a two-way process where the teacher and student learn from each other.
Central to Dr. Jones’ educational philosophy comes from critical education theorist Paulo Freire when he states “There’s no such thing as neutral education. Education either functions as an instrument to bring about conformity or freedom”.
