What do pizza, Destiny’s Child, and your household have in common? I’ll tell you, consent culture! Join me for an interactive workshop about creating consent culture in your household. As a parent, survivor, and educator, I collaborate with parents who are seeking ways to create consent culture in their households. In this workshop, we explore five ways and explore how to utilize these methods in other areas of your child’s life. Often the idea of discussing consent with children can be awkward at best, but after this workshop, I hope you will understand that consent culture is not just about sex. Creating a consent culture provides your child with communication skills, encourages autonomy, and fosters healthy relationships. As children, we may have been told not to say “no” to an adult or give Aunt so & so a hug, but this workshop gives participants an opportunity to explore the narratives of our childhood and society to create safer and supportive environments for our children. 

This workshop demonstrates the basics of establishing consent in your household with children. The attendees will engage in small group discussions, and identify obstacles and misconceptions of consent culture.
